I spend my life looking at weather apps with batted breath! Watching the weather can be stressful! Not only for me but for you.
Don’t get me wrong, I love an outdoor shoot! Autumn can be beautiful, Spring is gorgeous, and the warm summer evening with soft light is amazing. But the Great British weather is so unpredictable. Having to rearrange a session is never a problem, but it can be a pain to organise with everyone’s work commitments and social schedules. While there is nothing we can do about the weather: why not remove the factor altogether? In-home family sessions can happen rain or shine.
#2 SOME CHILDREN ARE JUST MORE COMFORTABLE AT HOME
While some children love exploring the great outdoors and brand-new places, some love to be in the comfort of their own homes. Some new spaces can make them feel a little shy and nervous. The majority of children (and adults) warm up after 10 minutes. It’s the fear of the un-none that makes us nervous.

Have you ever been looking through old childhood photos and stumbled across one of your childhood home? It transforms you straight back in time. That warm, safe feeling, full of nostalgia. If the home you are in now isn’t your forever home, that doesn’t matter. It’s still a part of your family story.
Don’t worry if your home is not Instagram-worthy, too small or messy now that you have children. It’s not about what your home looks like, it’s about what it means to your children, to your family.
#4 ANY TIME OF THE DAY
With outdoor shoots, it’s all about catching that soft light. It’s either best early morning or later in the afternoon. With an at-home session, anytime in the day is good. It’s easy to work around nap times and snack times. Plus, there’s no rushing out the door trying to get somewhere on time!

Everything you may need is easy to hand in your home. No need to remember the spare clothes, snacks, drinks or toys
